FCC should reduce the number of radio stations owned by one company in a market

Created by F.R. on January 29, 2013

Clear Channel, Cumulus, Buckley Broadcasting and numerous other companies can have five or more radio stations in one market.

A few owners control the majority of stations. They are using public air waves to limit competition and enriching themselves at the expense of serving the public.

Some companies lay off numerous people, outsource their talent from areas outside the market, and often have all of their radio stations under one roof. This has to be reversed.

Many of these companies violate FCC rules by not providing public service shows or having the stations staffed at not just in case there's an emergency broadcast.

The number of radio stations owned in one market should be significantly reduced to create jobs and increase competition.

Stop this misuse of public airwaves.
