This petition proposes a Federal Firearms and Ammo Tax Act to tax the sale of ammo, sale of firearms and the transfer of firearms which accept magazines with a capacity greater than 10. The proceeds of the new tax would be designated to go towards block grants to the States to enhance school security and mental health services. This Tax Act should also reaffirm the language of the 2nd Amendment and the people's right to bear arms.
States can use the block grants in ways that they believe would be most effective toward keeping our children safe.
This tax would be in lieu of an Assault Weapons Ban. which is arbitrary and ineffective. Join me in supporting the 2nd Amendment and recognizing that firearm owners are willing to pay a little more to help provide safety to our children.
