There is a major flaw with the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005. The law restricts the monthly sale of pseudoephedrine, PPA, and ephedrine to 9.0 grams to a single purchaser, allowing a person to buy a month supply of decongestant and no more. This restriction fails to take into account the fact that one person might buy decongestant medication for multiple family members. This law prevents a parent from legally buying medication for themselves, their spouses, and their children.
The federal government must stop turning American parents into criminals. The government should adjust the limits to ensure parents are not forced to break the law in order to provide an over-the-counter medication to their families.
