The federal government should pass and enforce stricter laws regarding noise pollution with modified exhaust systems.

Created by R.N. on March 05, 2014

The federal government should pass and enforce stricter laws regarding noise pollution, especially from motorcycles, cars, pick-up trucks, and scooters with modified exhaust systems. The law should state that no residential-registered vehicle shall be heard more than 40 feet away. Every vehicle would be checked as a part of the smog check via a microphone inserted into the exhaust attached to the smog computer. It should be enforced by local police and can be added to existing speed cameras. Reducing noise pollution is an important quality of life issue. Reducing excessive noise will allow individuals to sleep better and enjoy their homes. Excessive noise is related to ringing of the ears, sleep deprivation, heart disease, aggravated behavior, fatigue, and neighborhood deterioration.
