On Wednesday July 27, 2016, Donald Trump publicly called on Russian intelligence agents to hack Hillary Clinton's emails and release the results, a direct and very public appeal to a foreign power to commit espionage. By doing so Donald Trump himself might be guilty of espionage because he did not just suggest that Russia might be capable of doing so, but he directly requested Russia to do so in exchange for an expected reimbursement, with that being publicity and his political support. By doing so, Donald Trump tried to publicly recruit a foreign power to commit espionage for his own personal gain.
