To many American's today are unemployed, underemployed or work for lower wages due to a crime they paid their debts for long ago. Every state is different in the laws regarding how far back in time a employer may look into a citizen's criminal past. I request that we come up with a federal law that protects our citizens from this discrimination and gives them a equal opportunity to get a good job. Each state has different requirements on felonies some states you can't expunge or seal records in so these individuals have to disclose their record public till death. I mean is it unreasonable to say 7- 10 years after a felony unless it is a capital offense that a person applying for a job in any state should have to disclose their criminal record. this should apply for public, private jobs.
