Federal standardization of patient wristband colors

Created by G.J. on March 17, 2014

Federally standardized patient colored wristband could save numerous lives and prevent countless medical mistakes. Numerous states have adopted some form of the standard developed by The Colors of Patient Safety Task Force.
The importance of the patients' color-coded wristband is that information, such as food allergies, DNR and a fall risk to name just a few, are immediately conveyed. The use of this visual cue also serves as a reminder of information to all that come in contact with the patient.
