The U.S government should maximize productivity while using the least amount of money. There is pressure on the U.S Department of Education (ED) to create programmatic regulations that will use Federal money productively. The system that has been created, though, has prevented many ambitious young Americans from meeting their scholastic objectives. The "Expected Family Contribution" (EFC) is the brainchild of the ED and is what determines the amount of aid offered. Middle class families suffer when they cannot afford/refuse to help their children pay for college. Yet, their incomes spike their EFC and the child misses out on financial aid. This regulation has dehumanized a system that was set in place to help driven students receive a postsecondary education. Please sign--for change.
