Presently the National Guard can discharge and or deny
members reitirement for any issue the Commanding Officer and PSNCO of that unit want to use to deny benefits. I for one was discharged when I should have been place in the Retired Reserve and transfered to another non combat unit. I have met a person with 31 years of service that is drawing 80% diability for combat related injures yet he has been told he can't retire. His paper work has been lost. Reserve Units must follow regulation more strickly thus preventing a lot of ill-legal discharges and denied retirements from those that have earned their benefits. More over any member of any service discharge with any disability incurred during active duty should keep their ID cards and health insurance regardless of rating.
