In Sept, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin (R) vowed to prohibit Oklahoma’s National Guard from providing benefits to married same-sex couples, directly violating a Pentagon directive and a presidential decree. Now Fallin has cut spousal benefits for the entire Oklahoma National Guard, including straight couples.
This action is unacceptable. The OK Nat'l Guard has served their country at a time of war, not just the state of Oklahoma. If the state will not comply with the Pentagon mandate and will not "support the troops" as the troops have supported the mission of this country, then the Federal government needs to step in and federalize the support for ALL Nat'l Guard members.
Send a message, Mr. President, that the people who served WILL be cared for, including spousal benefits for all.
