Federally end "gun free zones" as a means to deter crime. Allow certain individuals to carry guns in them state-wide.

Created by M.D. on January 25, 2013

The concept of Gun Free Zones as a means of preventing criminals from committing acts of violence or wherever a "Gun Free Zone" sign is posted has long been debunked.

The tragedies in Newton and Aurora were both in Gun free zones.

In 1997, the law prevented a principal at Pearl High School, Mississippi from having his firearm available, forcing him to run a quarter of a mile to his car then back to disarm and detain the gunman there until police were finally able to arrive. Until the law was enacted, he had carried it on his person.

The five school shootings that occurred during the '97-98 school year took place after the 1995 Gun-Free School Zones law was enacted.

Gun Free Zones do absolutely nothing to deter madmen from carrying out their deeds, and disarm those who can stop them.
