Federally fund additional police to provide permanent security in our 99,817 public schools.

The U.S. Department of Education reports that there are 98,817 public Schools in the United States. According to the Department of Justice Average starting salaries for entry-level local police officers in 2007 ranged from $26,600 per year in the smallest jurisdictions to $49,500 in the largest. Every public school in the United States should have a permanent police presence. If the federal government allotted $100,000.00 for each school, it would only make up .007% of the proposed federal budget for 2013. This funding would provide at least two officers for every school. Our country is in need of jobs right now. Thousands of veterans are unemployed. Let’s put highly trained professional police officers in our schools and protect our most valuable asset.
