Federally legalize alcohol possession and consumption for everyone over the age of 18.

I'm going to put my reasons short and sweet so here we go:
Smoking is more dangerous than alcohol and smoking is legal 3 years before alcohol is.
Why should I be eligible to be drafted for the military at 18 but not be able to consume alcohol until 21?
Why should I be able to join the military at 18 and not be able to drink until 21?
Many European countries have the drinking age at 16 and people there isn't an observable negative impact.
It's a nonviolent offense (when done responsibly).
Kids will be kids and do this regardless of whether or not it is legal, so don't make them go to jail for a relatively harmless substance.
