The United States and Papua new guinea are the only states without paid maternity leave. ALL mothers deserve the protection and security of knowing they can tend to their newborn(s) without worrying about job security. If politicians truly believe in family values, it is time to respect mothers. It is time to meet the minimum standards of the rest of the modern world. Currently, the United States is last in yet another issue related to women and families.
Let American mothers have at least 6 weeks of federally mandated PAID maternity leave, and mandate job security for the duration of their maternity leave. Healthy and happy families will create a better future.
