At the national government level, we would encourage and promote the orchestration, design, funding, and building of a national spanning inter-state high speed public transportation system. This should be created with three fundamental goals in mind;
1. To improve the economy through increased interstate commerce and travel, reduce highway maintenance costs, and in short term give us a great big economical boost with construction.
2. To reduce our dependency on foreign energy.
3. To make our nation a safer place by reducing individual vehicular use.
The benefits of this type of construction obviously far outweigh the costs, and would benefit all citizens in a non insignificant way.
