Federally prohibit the purchase and use of cigarettes for anyone under the age of 21.

We believe that the federal government should move the required minimum age for purchase and use of tobacco to age 21, the same age as alcohol laws. This is due to the excessive danger in cigarettes by nature that not all 18 year old fully realize when they start their addiction. Soon enough, they will realize that starting to smoke cigarettes at a young age wasn't in fact very cool when they face a potentially fatal threat towards their life, thanks to the cancer sticks. (They have such a nickname for a reason). The reality is that those who believe they can control their tobacco habits at age 18 aren't ready to put themselves at risk with a drug that killed ~435,000 people in the year 2000 while alcohol only killed ~85,000. This is a significant difference that should strike a bell.
