Let me begin by saying I completely agree with the 2nd amendment. I believe every American has the right to own and use firearms. However, we need to finally establish a method for determining who should and who shouldn't be allowed to have access to firearms and ammunition.
I believe my point is best made when comparing what is required to own and operate a vehicle to what is required to own and operate a firearm. Without restrictions on calibers, quantities of ammunition, and fire rates, it's like giving a blind man the keys to a tank and the freedom to drive around the streets.
We need comprehensive and sensible reform to gun laws immediately. This should include requiring background checks, waiting periods, and proper firearm safety training.
