With high unemployment and rising food costs, everyday people are struggling to get by. The benefits available through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—less than $7 a day—are not enough to keep struggling Americans from going hungry.
Over 50 million people in the U.S. struggle to put food on the table. More than 17 million kids are experiencing hunger. About 80% of SNAP recipients are working families.
We ask the President and his administration to urge Congress to increase funding for the SNAP. And, in the interim do everything in his power to make certain that every person participating in the SNAP has enough food for their families without having to beg, borrow or scrounge for the day's meal.
