feed the school children of America quality food without so many hormones and chemicals, and cook most of it fresh.

Created by S.U. on April 24, 2013

It is not possible that a healthy lunch can be given to school children when it only costs around .35 cents to make. The food is frozen, and nothing is cooked fresh. The food pyramid, followed by schools and created by the USDA, is flawed because it favors the interests of agricultural industry. The allowances for fat are much too high. 80% of schools do not meet the USDA standards for fat composition. An estimated 17% of children and adolescents ages 2-19 are obese, according to the CDC. These numbers are not acceptable. More school lunches need to be made fresh, or at least have less hormones and chemicals. This could be done if we gave the regulating power over from the USDA to the CDC. We need to teach that chicken looks like chicken, not a dinosaur nugget. Feed them REAL FOOD!
