Would require insurance companies to cover medical expenses, such as procedures and perscriptions, incurred for fertility treatments recommended by fertility specialist including fees for surrogates. Some examples would be invetro fertilization and intra uterin insemination and the use of a surrogate for women who have problems. Coverage will be provided for women and men deemed to have fertility issues by a doctor after several consulations and testing. Exclusions include healthy single men and women, and healthy same sex couples who are electing to have children and are in need of a sperm or egg donor. The definition of infertility will include failure to get pregnant after 1 year of trying up to age 35, failure after 6 months of trying over age 35, and more than 1 miscarriage.
