Please stand up for the widening income and wealth gap between the affluent and the middle class. Since the beginning of the recession, the middle class has been plagued by growing debt, increased cost of necessities such as health care and education, and overconsumption. Over the past decade there has also been a sharp increase in the wealth of the most affluent individuals while the middle class has fallen behind. Research has shown that the top 1%'s income has risen 228 percent from 1995 to 2005. This is a problem because the upper class has been able to gain more social and political power. There interests are the ones that are being defended in congress and it's time for change. Help stand up for the voice of the middle class citizens.
