Whereas, trusting fellow citizens and belief in one's own voice in government having equal weight are requisite for functioning and well maintained democracy.
Whereas, recent SCOTUS rulings "Citizens UnitedvsFEC" and "McCutcheonvsFEC" undermine trust and equal voice in the following ways:
1) SCOTUS misjudged US public's view by asserting no "illusion of corruption." Both decisions undermine trust of middle-class and poor Americans in an opaque election system, politicians accepting donors' monies explicitly or implicitly, and the reasoning of the Judicial Branch.
2) Giving oversized voices to large donors to choose, through monies, who can adequately compete in primaries, elections - and thereby electoral outcomes.
