Fight national obesity by having the FDA nutrition labels list values by mass, rather than an arbitrary serving size.

Created by D.A. on May 04, 2012

Current FDA nutrition labels, which appear on all food packaging in the US, are allowed to list the nutritional facts of the included food based on an arbitrary serving size, determined by the manufacturer. This policy produces difficulties for the consumer in comparing the nutritional content of different products when trying to make wise eating decisions. The ability to make wise eating decisions is crucial to managing the growing obesity epidemic, which contributes to the mounting health care costs in the US.
