By subsidizing the manufacturing of low calorie natural sweeteners, like Truvia, it might be possible to reduce obesity in this country. If a 50/50 blend of Truvia and Sugar could be developed for the same cost as all Sugar then more people and companies could afford to use it.
I believe most people currently avoid using sugar substitutes for the following reasons:
1. The cost
2. They don't want to use artificial ingredients
3. They want food manufactured by someone else
( I.e. McDonalds,Keebler,Nestle....)
If given the option of buying an all natural cookie from Famous Amos that had 1/4 less calories, but the same great taste, for the same price as the higher calorie cookie who wouldn't opt for the healthier choice?
