Fight for Women’s Rights in the Workplace through Giving Heavier Penalties to Companies that Commit Pay Discrimination.

Created by R.P. on April 01, 2016

Pay discrimination has plagued this country for decades. Although the 1960s chasm of 60.4% difference in pay between men and women in has shrunk into a gap of around 78.6% in 2014, progress has slowed down and even grown in recent years. An article published by the Huffington Post revealed that “American women overall shouldn’t expect to see pay equity until 2058 if progress continues at its current rate.” Currently Women that prosecute and prove pay inequity within the workplace only receive what they should have been paid in the first place, ultimately ending the trials with no substantial loss for companies. Passing a policy like this would help to close the gender pay gap, show businesses that this will not just be accepted and ultimately work towards creating a more diverse community
