The file antitrust claims against the private prison companies Corrections Corporation of America and The GEO Group.

Created by C.R. on April 30, 2013

Private prison companies operate over one hundred private prison facilities in the United States. They donate, lobby, and network with government officials to promulgate tough on crime tactics that have created the failed War on Drugs and Mass Incarceration epidemic. The GEO Group and CCA have successively lobbied Congress and state legislatures to award them lucrative government contracts and and impose "three strikes" laws, "truth in sentencing laws," and mandatory minimum sentencing guidelines. These policies are not only a form of race and class based social control, most directly effecting African Americans and the poor, but have been a $1 trillion strain on our budged over the past 40 years. An antitrust action is appropriate because these companies dominate the prison market.
