On January 14 2014 Verizon Communications inc. won its case against the Federal Communications Commission in the U.S. Court of Appeals which in effect has struck down the FCC's Net Neutrality rules. Without these rules in place Internet Service Providers will be able to control traffic on the internet without oversight or transparency.
The implications of this lack of regulation are disturbing. Without Net Neutrality rules in effect, internet service providers such as Verizon itself could give preferential treatment to its own or partnered websites, or worse force customers to pay more for less. Officially Verizon says the regulation will make it harder to keep up with demand, a common and deceptive argument.
Do not let companies like Verizon destroy freedom for the sake of profit.
