Support a final vote to decide Puerto Rico’s political status

Created by G.G. on October 08, 2015

Without Congressional endorsement, Puerto Rico has conducted five plebiscites of which the most recent one, in 2012, undeniably resulted in a majority of voters rejecting the current political status of Commonwealth.
Now, as per the President's Task Force on Puerto Rico's Status (2011) and UN Resolution 1514 (1960), the only constitutional status options remaining are STATEHOOD and SOVEREIGNTY either by independence or free association.
Hence, we petition for full Congressional endorsement of a near-future referendum containing the aforementioned options. This implies that the US government would commit to honoring the Puerto Rican people’s right of self-determination by initiating the procedure along with a plan of support to guide Puerto Rico in attaining whatever status results elected.
