in the year of 1915 the Armenian people along with other Christian ethnic groups within the Ottoman Empire faced a persecution that resulted in the systematic killing of over 1.5 million Armenians. To this day this crime has largely been ignored, with the U.N. and the United States refusing to call this atrocity a genocide for political alliances with Turkey who has been caught trying to rewrite the history of this event. It is time for the United States to live up to our ideals of human rights. Let us show our support as a nation to those who have faced a great terror by finally declaring the truth and have a national recognition that it was Genocide. Let us declare it for the hundredth year anniversary, and rectify a hundred years of denial and inaction.
