This petition was posted on the Day of Holocaust Remembrance because the expansionist tendencies of Russian President Vladimir Putin are reminiscent of Hitler's actions leading up to World War II. Pro-Russian forces already threaten Ukrainian minority groups, including Jews and Crimean Tartars.
We cannot appease Putin the way that the Allies appeased Hitler. We must act directly against Putin himself because he is the only person with the power to stop such incursions. The most effective nonviolent way to deescalate the conflict is to freeze Putin's assets in American banks and encourage other nations to freeze his assets in their own banks.
