It is time to address violence as a whole in our nation, and to recognize it is not the control of firearms that is needed, but the solution to the cause. Congress needs to find a common ground and be able to both support the right of all law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms, as well as finding a way to keep our children safe in school. We need to stop trying to blame inanimate objects for the actions of people, and start blaming the people. Punish the criminals who misuse firearms, not the average person who does not, and allow the honest people to be able to defend themselves and others, no matter where they go. Tragically, every mass shooting this year has taken place in locations where firearms were banned for law abiding citizens, and we need to end this.
