Since our elected Senators are so out of touch with reality, or so afraid of lobbyists and financial interests that they can't even pass a bill that has the support of an overwhelming majority of the American Public, we need to petition directly to the White House to have these common-sense laws implemented:
1. Expand and greatly strengthen background checks for would-be gun purchasers to prevent criminals and mentally-unstable people from purchasing guns, yet maintain access for law-abiding citizens!
2. Implement a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity gun magazines - they are not needed for hunting, target practice, or personal defense - all they do is help criminals to kill more people!
If most of us really want gun control, LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!
