The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has been ordered to regulate oil and gas prices. They have been a complete failure. The consequences are that gas prices are sucking the life out of the economy as they did in 2008. The average person simply can not afford to fill their tank and produce the kind of spending so sustain a vibrant economy at the same time. The CFTC members and the Justice Department have, for 10 years of better, have let Big Oil buy up all the mom and pop refineries and close them down creating an artificial supply shortage thus driving up gas prices. Just look at the headlines..... "More US production of oil"..... "shortage of gasoline". Does anyone see a problem here or is it just me?
