On behalf of all American military members and veterans, we believe Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Bob McDonald should be fired for his comments made on May 23rd, 2016 regarding wait times.
McDonald stated, “When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is what’s your satisfaction with the experience. The days to an appointment is really not what we should be measuring.” McDonald has failed to realize that wait times for treatment can be the difference between life and death.
McDonald’s statements show that he is not serious about helping America’s veteran population. Comparing veterans’ health care to an amusement park is not only insensitive, it is insulting to the men and women who have served.
