EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy violated her responsibilities under the Safe Drinking Water Act with a weak and woeful response to Flint's water crisis. She retaliated against an EPA whistleblower who had provided compelling evidence of dangerous levels of lead in Flint's water.
Despite HOW the toxins arrived in the water, once known, the ultimate responsibility to act immediately was the EPA's, per SDWA section 1431, 42 U.S.C. §300i: "upon receipt of information that a contaminant that is present in or likely to enter a public water system...that may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to the health of persons, the EPA Administrator may take any action she deems necessary to protect human health."
McCarthy's reign has been malignant. It is time for her to be fired.
