Fire FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski

Created by W.C. on December 05, 2012

Mr. President,

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski is considering suspending the rules limiting monopolization of media markets. Specifically he is considering allowing News Corp to buy the LA TImes and Chicago Tribune without public hearing.

Among others, News Corp owns Fox News and News of the World, which is embroiled in a phone hacking and influence pedaling scandal in the UK. Fox News is best known as a communication and propaganda arm of the Republican party.

The FCC clearly should not be giving serious consideration to a modification of these rules to any large media company, much less Fox News. Citizens of this country clearly need an FCC Chairman who will place small business media companies at the front of the line and will protect out rights to diversity in media ownership.
