Unfortunately, the situation in Ferguson has been handled far more absurdly, and for far longer, than should ever be permissible within U.S. borders. In a perfect world, the guilty parties within the Ferguson police force would be identified and dismissed, but in this world, that would likely prove to be an ineffective and unsatisfying failure. There seems no going back - even if the ordeal should be diffused (which looks unlikely without drastic action), the citizens will never be able to trust their law enforcement again. Let's prevent this disaster before it starts, for a change. The police should not only be protecting and serving themselves.
