Our nation was founded as a secular nation, where religion was a personal choice in one's life. Over time this nation has begun to renege on that ideal. Religion has pervaded our government, even to the point that one's religious beliefs or lack thereof is brought up as if it is a policy issue in the electoral process. The United States of America depends on remaining a secular state. It is in the better interests of all Americans of every denomination - from Atheists and Agnostics to Christians, Muslims, and Hindus etc. - that we maintain a separation of Church and State. If we allow ourselves to continue down this road, we put at risk the unity that makes us strong. Religion does its own thing, tax exempt and separate from government. My friends, let us leave faith to individual choice.
