It is now illegal for consumers to "unlock" their mobile telephones that they purchased, to enable use on the network of their choice. The Librarian of Congress unilaterally declared this to be law, under the authority granted him by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Therefore, we petition the President to fire the Librarian of Congress for his anti-consumer action, and to urge congress to repeal the DMCA that enables this and other anti-consumer laws in the name of "copyright" (though unlocking a mobile phone has nothing to do with the spirit and purpose of copyright law).
