Kim Davis is not performing her duties as a County Clerk. She is defying a Supreme Court ruling. She is defying a federal court's order to compel her to perform the duties required of her position. In any other context, someone who refuses to perform the requirements of her job description would get fired.
Davis is making a mockery of one of the nation's highest court's decisions. She is a bigot and is incapable of understanding or accepting the concept of separation of church and state. She claims that having her signature on a gay couple's marriage license would "violate her conscience". If it's that important to her, she can simply resign her position and not have to deal with this self-imposed dilemma, but she refuses to do so. She deserves to be fired, and punished for her crimes.
