Taxpayers are sick and tired of paying the lawsuit awards and settlements of the multitude of police violence cases nationwide. Why should thug cops not suffer any loss while we pony up thousands or millions to their victims?
Require police to obtain/maintain individual liability insurance policies for both civil and criminal cases at their own expense at predetermined, mandated levels. If their insurance gets cancelled (claims, etc) so does their job, plus they forfeit any existing/future taxpayer-funded pension contributions.
Suspicions of collusion/cover-up would be investigated by a disinterested third party. Evidenced offenders would be charged with the same penalties as above.
Without personal accountability, bad cops have no reason to change. It's time to hold them accountable
