The current child support system does not work. There are enormous backlogs, unresponsive "customer service" systems, and billions of dollars in undistributed funds. The system says "it's all about the children" yet there is no visitation enforcement other than having the custodial parent hauled off in handcuffs. Multiple studies show that parental alienation is horrific for the children and their future, yet it runs rampant, and is impossible to stop because social services are solidly focused on the money. Interstate systems and communication are disastrously ineffective causing delays of years. The amounts non-custodials pay are ridiculous, leaving some destitute and unable to provide for themselves, let alone a visiting child. It needs to be fixed. Unify the system. Fix it.
