I believe that Common Core is a good idea in principle. However, the material being given to K, 1st and 2nd grade, to which I've seen so far, is confusing and misleading to my children and to me and my friends.
I am a computer programmer, "Self Taught" and I can do math in my sleep. The work that has been given to my children so far is just terrible! Many questions, I can't even figure out what is being asked. I handed it to many friends who are smart and they as well can't figure it out.
I believe the material needs to be reviewed again that is being given and adjusted.
I believe the principles of math are simple and Common Core has made it not simple.
If we had use the current work being given to teach an adult how to start a car, then they would never make it to work.
