With the winter change, darkness falls too early. Most find it night on their drive home. The lack of sunlight and the reduction in outdoor activity enhances the winter depression known as "Seasonal Affective Disorder". People stay inside due to the dark, when they otherwise would be out shopping, or otherwise participating in activity supporting economic growth.
"I think that sunshine is big business here in the state of Florida, and an extra hour during the winter time certainly would help out business, and it's also a quality life issue for Floridians."
Some golf pros agree.
"If I worked until five o'clock, I'd have a couple of hours to at least go out and enjoy the golf course after work," Jason Bench said.
"As a business, we would therefore make more money"
