fix education!

Created by J.R. on February 20, 2016

The idea that a leader of the public schools in America can be fundamentally detached from the job of teaching and learning is a delusion that we must rid ourselves of. The job of secretary of education needs to be attached to being principal or teacher at one of our failing schools. There is no way to know if their policies will work unless the person is still in the classroom, and not just reading books to kids. Hiring an educator to lead education is a good first step, but put them in the trenches that they have fought hard to escape and let’s see if they have the metal to survive. We deserve educational leaders who are willing to, not only make proclamations, but to also put their hands in the mud and really risk it all. Today we have none.
