We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Fix the electoral process, eliminate the electoral college

Created by J.D. on November 09, 2016

The electoral college is outdated and antiquated. It was a system designed when our country was founded, but with modern technology is not needed. The popular vote should be how the president is elected, such that we do not have president elected with minority support. This has happened multiple times and should be fixed. Additionally, the electoral college disincentivizes voters. If a voter lives in a particular state that is heavily Republican, but wants to vote Democrat, they may feel that their vote does not count. The same is true in reverse, like Republicans in California. Thus they often don't bother.

If we truly want a president of the people, by the people, and for the people, the electoral college should be done away with, and the president should be elected by popular vote.
