The 9.5% formula used to determine healthcare affordability is discriminatory to families. It does not take into consideration the cost of insuring the entire family- which is often 20-25% of their annual income. These lower income families are barred from using the subsidies that their income qualifies them for because their job offers insurance that is deemed "affordable" by this flawed formula. This "family glitch" has made it impossible for 1.93 million low/moderate income Americans to obtain affordable healthcare. The formula needs to be amended to include the cost of insuring the entire family.
