Fix the graves/interment records of veterans buried in national cemeteries with wrong information (wrong name, DOB, etc)

Created by T.H. on May 25, 2015

Private David Schrack fought and died during the Civil War and was buried in New Bern National Cemetery with the wrong name on his headstone. He is one of many veterans buried in national cemeteries with grave/interment record issues such as the wrong name, date of birth/death, or company of service.

The US government refuses to take action because of a regulation which states all graves 50 years or older are considered historic and cannot be changed. This is, in essence, a disrespectful refusal to properly honor our veterans by correctly identifying them. Our veterans do not fight and sacrifice themselves in the line of duty to be misremembered simply because of a misprint on their grave.

This petition is part of an effort to fix both Schrack's grave and all of the incorrect graves.
