Currently we have a healthcare system that works in an ad hoc manner. We spend more on foreign wars than we did to land on the moon half a century ago (even after adjusting for the present value of the dollar). Our healthcare research is largely not united and focuses on treatments rather than cures.
I propose we go beyond what the government currently does in the healthcare sector and put everyone on the same plan paid for by taxes that are adjusted as needed to meet the costs and denying no one treatment so long as there is a treatment in existence and the patient wants it. We would also no doubt benefit from pioneering healthcare achievements.
Immortality should be our major national undertaking - to make death a tragedy instead of an inevitability.
