Fix a national security problem – the failed US education system.

Created by R.K. on January 11, 2012

Taxpayers invests heavily in military education. Each service maintains expensive universities and military officers often receive two or more master’s degrees during a career(while receiving full compensation). DHS provides grants ($2.3B in 2012) to local governments to counter threats that will likely never occur such as nuclear weapons being used on small town America. USAID has a budget of $43B for international development.
Reduce the DOD budget by 5%, the DHS grant program by 50% and USAID by 10%. Reinvest this money in the US education system – not the dept of ed. Provide opportunities through grants to local school districts for teachers to continue their education as we do our military officers. Lets transition from a national security state to a state of national prosperity.
